40th ANNUAL BLACK HILLS ROD RUN
Mark your calendars for July 11, 12, and 13 for the best Black Hills rod run yet. The rod run for this year features a totally revised schedule and added events for more of your rodding pleasure. Check the schedule below for daily events and daily schedules.
Some of the highlights and changes for this year include a multi stop garage tour as part of the poker run route. We are going to highlight some of the more unique shops in the Black hills area and make this part of the poker run. The traditional show and shine on main street of Hill City has been revamped and will take place in the later afternoon following a long cruise through the Black Hills. The long two part cruise on Saturday morning will leave Hill City at 9:00 am and proceed on scenic Hwy 385 to Boondocks, a local treasure of 50`s cars and memorabilia. From Boondocks the group will split up {driver`s choice] and one group will proceed to historic Deadwood to Tin Lizzies casino for lunch and gaming. We are making plans to have reserved parking at Tin Lizzies so we will provide the locals and tourists with a car show. The second group will continue the cruise on scenic Nemo road to the tiny town of Nemo where we will stop for refreshments. This cruise will then go through Van Nocher canyon which is a spectacular drive. The canyon route will lead to famous Sturgis for a cruise down notorious main street and then on to Whitewood to Tally Wackers which is a retro bar and grill for cool beverages. From Whitewood the group will cruise out a scenic valley and over a scenic mountain to join the first group at Tin Lizzes in Deadwood. After a short break the entire group will cruise back to Hill City where we will have a show and shine on main Street. If you like to drive your hot rod this will be an event to remember.
Another change to the Rod Run program is to allow rodders to sign up for the entire event for discounted $35 and also allow local rodders to choose ala carte events and sign up and pay for single events. This change is to encourage our local friends who may not be able to commit an entire weekend to come out and enjoy other people and encourage more use of their car.
It is early yet and the Rod Run committee is still tossing around new ideas and they are sure to add more fun as we get closer to July. Again, mark your calendars now for the time of your life. For more information: Rush Elliot 605-209-1484 or Bob Myers, 605-716-3098,
